Back to the 80s Tonight on Off the Beaten Track!

Hey there, my Padawans!

Tonight at 6 PM Eastern, it's time once again for another edition of Off the Beaten Track right here on Jedi Council Radio, and this week we're taking a trip back to a decade that means a lot to me personally.

We're heading back to the 1980s.

As many of you know, I was born in 1968, which means the 1980s weren't just another decade for me—they were my teenage years. These were the years of discovering music, finding favorite artists, recording songs off the radio, saving allowance money for albums and cassettes, and spending countless hours with headphones on, completely lost in the music.

The 80s gave us so much.

It gave us larger-than-life rock bands, groundbreaking new wave artists, unforgettable synth-pop anthems, arena rock legends, power ballads, MTV, and enough musical innovation to influence generations that followed. Whether you loved classic rock, pop, new wave, heavy metal, alternative beginnings, or something in between, the 1980s had something for everyone.

Tonight's show is not intended to be a "Greatest Hits of the 80s" countdown.

That's never really been what Off the Beaten Track is about.

Instead, we're going to explore some of the songs, artists, memories, and moments that helped shape a generation. Some tracks may be familiar favorites. Some may be songs you haven't heard in years. Some may be hidden gems that deserve another spin.

Most importantly, we're going to celebrate the music.

Music has always had a way of transporting us through time. One song can bring back a summer night, a first car, an old friendship, a school dance, a concert, or a moment we thought we'd forgotten. That's one of the reasons I love doing these nostalgia-themed shows. The songs are important—but the memories attached to them are often even more powerful.

So whether you lived through the 1980s with me, discovered the decade years later, or simply love great music, I hope you'll join me tonight.

Grab your favorite beverage, turn up the volume, and come spend a couple of hours traveling through one of the most influential decades in music history.
