Hey there, my Padawans!
Tonight at 6:00 PM Eastern, we'll once again gather around the virtual campfire that is Off the Beaten Track on Jedi Council Radio, and this week we're taking a special journey back through time.
As I was putting this week's show together, I found myself thinking about the music that filled the air when I was growing up. The songs playing from car radios. The songs drifting out of bedroom stereos. The songs that seemed to be everywhere, whether you were paying attention or not. Before streaming services. Before playlists. Before algorithms decided what we should hear next.
Back then, music was an adventure.
You heard songs because a friend handed you an album. Because a DJ took a chance on something unusual. Because you stayed up late listening to the radio and stumbled across something magical.
That's where tonight's show begins.
We're diving into the late 70s and the 80s, exploring not only some beloved classics but also those wonderful songs that may have slipped between the cracks over the years. The tracks that bring back memories. The songs that instantly transport us to another time and place.
Maybe you'll remember riding in the family car on a summer vacation.
Maybe you'll remember sitting in your room with headphones on, studying album covers while the music played.
Maybe you'll remember high school dances, first concerts, first crushes, or simply a time when life felt a little less complicated.
The older I get, the more I realize that music isn't just entertainment. It's memory. It's emotion. It's a time machine that works better than anything science fiction has ever dreamed up.
One song can bring back an entire chapter of your life.
Tonight's edition of Off the Beaten Track is dedicated to those memories.
We'll be featuring music from an era that produced some of the greatest artists in rock, pop, and beyond. Some songs were massive hits. Others were hidden gems. All of them have something worth remembering.
